BD - Obviously my lasting memory was winning the Qualifying cup but there were several other cup wins in the North of Scotland cup and the league cup.
However one league win does stand out above all others when Brora beat Clach in Inverness at the end of the season to finish 2nd or 3rd in the league. We were very short of experienced players and had to rely on Alex Matheson, Joe McIldowie and Chris Sommerville and several other under 18 players but beat Clach in Inverness with a very young side.
AC -What was the best goal you scored?
BD - scored very few Brora goals but I can tell you about one goal scored by a Brora player named Douglas Norris ( what ever happened to him?)
We had just conceded a goal to Rothes at Rothes and Dugga was" not very happy".
The ball was played to him straight from the kick off and he advanced about 10 yards and " in the craze" he thrashed the ball from 45 yards like an excocet missile into the goalkeepers top left hand corner.
AC - What was the best Brora X1 yopu played with/managed
BD - Obviously the best Brora team which I was involved in was the one which won the Qualifying cup and just look at these names who were good enough to hold down a place in most Premier league sides nowadays; Suttar, Fair, Robert Allan, Norris, Christie , Sokolowski, Derek MacAskill, Hamilton, Jackson Dewar and Donald Mackay, John Cha Cha Innes Ali B Sutherland
AC-Tell us an amusing incident from your Brora days?
BD - There were many amusing incidents with the above team which was full of " characters" but most are unprintable.
AC - What are you up to these days?
BD - Currently, I am not involved in football in any way.
I am retired and work occasionally to "help out " my employers.
As you may know I worked as Sheriff Clerk at Dornoch and left Brora to take up a similar post in Dumbarton.
Prior to retiring in 2007 I worked as a relief Officer with the Court making guest appearances at Oban, Campbeltown Dunoon, Greenock Paisley Kilmarnock Sheriff Courts.
Many thanks to my old pals in Brora who kept me in employment in the Court, I will NOT name them as they know who they are ( thanks Terry from Brora in particular)
I still visit Brora with my mates as I have a daughter, son in law and grandchildren there.
