Two early goals put Brora Rangers on their way to a fine victory over Rothes at Dudgeon Park as the hosts were the side who put last week's defeat behind them. The Speysiders on the other hand are still to get off the mark.
The game started at a furious pace with both teams creating early chances. Andrew Neill swung in a tempting cross from the right for the home side but there were no takers in the middle.
Andrew Cummings had to be alert to keep his side level minutes later when he was in the right place at the right time to clear Mark Dougal's effort off the goal line.
The deadlock was broken on 12 minutes as The Cattachs got their noses in front. John Cameron was sent through on goal by Mark McKernie's pass before sliding the ball past the advancing Willie Ridgers and into the bottom corner of the net.
It took Brora on four minutes to double their lead when Scott MacAngus headed home a Ryan Mackintosh corner to net his first goal for Andy Macleod's men since joining from Ross County in the summer.
Rothes came back into the game and created several chances but a combination of good defending and poor crossing meant they failed to trouble Michael McCallum in the Brora goal.
Trialist Gary Tweedie had the Speysiders' best chance of the half when he met Donald Horsburgh's free kick when unmarked in the box but he headed wide of the target.
Half time: Brora Rangers 2 Rothes 0
Brora started on the front foot in the second half and on 52 minutes, Jamie McKay showed great pace to outstrip the Rothes defence but Ridgers got down well to smother his shot.
Cameron created a chance for himself two minutes later when he danced past two defenders in the Rothes box but Ridgers did well to keep out the forward's shot.
The home side finally got their third goal on 60 minutes when Jamie McKay slid home a cross from man of the match Andrew Neill to put the game all but beyond the visitors.
Rothes were creating problems from set pieces and they pulled a goal back from a corner on 65 minutes. Mark Smith rose highest in the box to powerfully head past McCallum from Kevin Shortreed's delivery.
Brora finished the game off though on 85 minutes when substitute Liam Baxter scored the goal of the game. He picked up Neill's cross ball and cheekily lobbed goalkeeper Ridgers from 20 yards.
Full time: Brora Rangers 4 Rothes 1
