A goal in each half saw Lossiemouth close the gap to Brora Rangers to just one point in the league with a victory at Dudgeon Park although the home side will highlight Scott MacAngus' red card just two minutes before the visitors broke the deadlock as the turning point in the game.
Brora were boosted by the return to the dugout of their manager Andy Macleod after two months out with illness but it wasn't the dream return and they almost went behind on 12 minutes after a cracking start to the match.
Martin McMullan threatened for the visitors and his powerful effort was parried by Michael McCallum in the Brora goal before Ryan Mackintosh stepped in to clear up the scraps.
The game was swinging from end to end and Brora were next to threaten when Gary Farquhar's cross was met by David Ross on the penalty spot but his effort was saved by the returning Chris Stuart in the Lossie goal.
Set pieces were a big threat in both side's armoury and from a McMullan free kick into the box, Shawn Scott headed over when the former Forres Mechanics and Buckie Thistle striker really should have scored.
As the half wore on, Lossiemouth began to control the game and McCallum was the busier of the two goalkeepers. He had to dive full length to keep out another full-blooded effort from McMullan.
The hosts were stunned on 41 minutes though when they were reduced to 10 men. Scott was guarding the ball on the deck and Scott MacAngus was red carded for his attempts to win it back, with the referee alleging that the former Ross County youth had kicked the Lossie striker.
It was a decision that proved costly for the hosts just two minutes later when Kevin Flett fired in a Sean MacIntosh cross from close range to give the visitors a deserved advantage at the break.
Half time: Brora Rangers 0 Lossiemouth 1
Brora came out rejuvenated after the interval and pinned the visitors back. Only a goal-line clearance kept Lossie in front when Sam Milton was in the right place at the right time to stop a Ross header.
Then on the hour mark, a long kick out from McCallum nearly brought about the equaliser when Mark Lamont beat the advancing Stuart to the ball but again a Lossie defender was able to race back and clear from the line.
Great interplay between John Cameron and Gary Farquhar created an opening for the veteran midfielder but the former St Johnstone midfielder could only watch on as his shot went agonisingly past the post.
Lossiemouth killed off the game with a second goal on 78 minutes as they took advantage of the tiring legs of 10-man Brora. Shawn Scott was the man who waltzed through the home defence after picking the ball up at the halfway line before coolly finishing from 12 yards to round off a fine individual effort.
Indeed, Scott could have added another to Lossie's tally after he went round goalkeeper McCallum before seeing his shot come back off the base of the post.
Full time: Brora Rangers 0 Lossiemouth 2
